Louboutin is 20 years old. That’s right, the French designer Christian Louboutin, with the help of two friends, started his shoe boutique in 1991 with Princess Caroline of Monaco being his first customer. Over the years, many fashionistas, celebrities, and fashion-conscious professionals have come to Louboutin for his signature red-lacquered sole, and the Louboutin name has been synonymous with excellence and cutting-edge design. Now as Louboutin celebrates its 20^th birthday, news is coming out of a new line.

According to Marie Claire, Christian Louboutin will be releasing a new 26 piece shoe and bag collection, commemorating the different designs over the years of the celebrated shoe and accessories designer. In all, there will be 20 shoes and 6 bags in the collection that features brightly colored pumps (of course), mesh knee-high boots, crystal-covered shoulder bags, and many others. Those who are familiar with Louboutin’s work will grow nostalgic and those new will discover what so many others already know about the genius of Louboutin.

So this is what I’m dealing with. Blizzard outside and open sandals in store. Such a great mix, don’t you think? Stockholm will be under a cold spell for another 3 months or so, and these Manolo sandals won’t make much sense if you look out the window. Good thing they’re beautiful and I have plenty of customers taking trips to the sun. But we won’t be able to wear summer shoes on the streets of Stockholm for a long, long time. What’s the weather like where you all live? Can I come visit?

These are my first choices for spring, the Christian Louboutin Corneille in nude jazz leather and the Stella McCartney Linda flat sandal in nude. Later this season I will add something in color and metallic silver or gold, but these neutral shades are a great place to start when putting together a spring wardrobe.

I was surprisingly thrilled when I tried the Corneille on for the first time because it fit my (sometimes annoyingly) wide feet, something not all Louboutin pumps do. Such a happy day! The even more comfortable Linda flat is a new style from Stella McCartney inspired by the Linda wedge that was introduced last spring, and I suspect I’ll be wearing them most of summer.

So I haven’t been the most dedicated blogger recently, but I’m changing that now that the spring collections are arriving and the sale period is coming to an end (finally).

It’s almost time for me to visit Milan again, I leave next week, and It’s going to be super exciting seeing what Giuseppe Zanotti and Emilio Pucci have come up with for AW12, not to mention Jimmy Choo. The week after that it’s time for Christian Louboutin and Manolo Blahnik in London, and I can’t wait! Is it obvious I love my job?

I am also over-seeing our selection of brands for the coming seasons, and there are just so many great brands to choose from. We specialize in “shoe-brands” like Manolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutin and Jimmy Choo, and I like the fact that these designers create shoes for the sake of creating shoes, and not just “something pretty to go with the ready-to-wear-line”. But of course there are designers such as Stella McCartney who put a lot of effort into the shoe collections, and these become very independent from the ready-to-wear. So really, what I’d like is to mix in another brand like Stella McCartney, that has a unique aesthetic different from the dedicated shoe-brands. SHANGHAI
Det var länge sen jag bodde i Shanghai. Sedan dess har jag bott i Taipei och jag har nu siktet ställt på Hong Kong. Jag tog mig till Shanghai efter gymnasiet och där läste jag kinesiska på Fudan University. Det var en helt fantastisk upplevelse i en underbar stad, och jag minns allt som i ett rosa skimmer, vilket kanske inte är helt rättvist. Shanghai bjuder på enorma kontraster både vad gäller välstånd och kultur, mellan nyrikt och fattigt, kommunism och kapitalism samt blänkande nytt och antikt. Jag rekommenderar Shanghai för den som är nyfiken, har överskottsenergi och inte är rädd för konstiga dofter.

Eftersom jag inte har varit där på ett tag är kanske mina tips lite daterade, men jag rekommenderar att vandra runt på Changle Lu och Xinle Lu i French Concession, kör en spa-dag på Dragon Fly, och glöm inte att ta en drink på Glamour bar på Bunden.

I lived a short time in Shanghai many years ago, since then I have spent equal time in Taipei and now I have my sights set on Hong Kong. After graduation high school I left Stockholm for Shanghai and studied Mandarin Chinese at Fudan University. The experience was amazing and the city was wonderful, full of contrasts. Shanghai has both insane riches and devastating poverty, communism and capitalism, and everything feels either brand new or antique. I recommend Shanghai for anyone who is curious, energetic and unaware of stinky scents.

I haven’t visited Shanghai in a while, but when I do I will wander along Changle Lu and Xinle Lu in the French Concession, spend a spa-day at Dragon Fly and stop for at least one drink at Glamour bar on the Bund.

So I’m in London placing the order for Christian Louboutin Fall/Winter 2012, and right now I’m at Joe’s on Draycott having dinner and looking through the order sheets. I loved the new collection, hope you will too!

I just finished unpacking the first shoes from our first ever Jimmy Choo delivery, and these are my favorites so far. They’re up on the shelves in the boutique but it will take a little longer for them to arrive in the web shop. I’ll keep you posted.
