LOUBOUTIN & MANOLO

manolo-blahnik-shopsavannahs-stockholm-designer-shoes-boutique

So my plane leaves ridiculously early tomorrow morning to take me to London for meetings with the good people at the Louboutin offices and the Manolo offices. Good times. I don’t know really what to expect from Louboutin this time, at our last meeting we heard that Mr. Christian recently had nightmares over the studs he is so famous for. So, will the spikes and studs be gone this time? I would miss them, I think. I did like the way they turn my sweet flats into weapons of (small) destruction, but maybe enough is enough? I wonder what’ll come next. Florals? I’m not sure. I wish ruffles would make a comeback, he does them so well. Very Can Can. So french. Voulez vous?

What Manolo has in store for us I could never guess. Maybe I’ll walk into the presentation room and be greeted by feathers and crystal embellishments in the most unimaginable shapes and color-combinations? He is always surprising and incredibly creative in his designs. Sometimes a little difficult but never boring.

Both of these meetings are of that special kind that I am never allowed to take pictures of anything. I’ll try to get some shots in non-sensitive areas like the reception or perhaps up against a wall where there is nothing remotely interesting for anyone to copy. How about that? Nope, not super interesting, I know. Buhu that’s life.

The picture above is from the Manolo Blahnik SS13 collection press presentation.

AN ITALIAN IN LONDON

We strolled around Chelsea and South Kensington after the Manolo Blahnik appointment in London last week. After stopping by the Joseph store we peeked through the window at Giuseppe Zanotti, comparing selections and gathering inspiration for our own shop.

BACK FROM LONDON

I had a short trip to London over the weekend to see the Christian Louboutin SS12 Main collection. Expect lots of fuschia, 160mm heels and platforms. My favorites are however a pair of clear plastic pointed sling-backs on an 85mm specchio heel with a strass embellished toe-cap. Can’t wait!

I am an airport security pro.

I am an airport security pro. I never set off that metal detector. There is no forgotten change in my pockets, no sneaky bra wire under my shirt and no chunky wrist watch to make the metal detectors run haywire. I have my laptop already taken out of my bag, my jacket folded and put into that plastic container thing along with (hear this) my shoes, cellphone and anything else I suspect will make the sound go “beep-beep”. And I am fast, too. I waste no time. The funny thing is, I’m hardly ever in a hurry at airports. I don’t have to get through security in a timely manner, but I still want to. Why, I don’t know. I like to be efficient. When I’m on the other side, I can browse through the perfume counter, buy a couple of paper backs or have a coffee before I board my plane. All this without stressing or time managing. But I still see it as some sort of mini-race to get through the line of people at security. I can’t relax until I’m through. What it is with airport security that drives me a little insane, I shall never know.

Anyway, I will try to relax and let security take it’s time tonight. I am going to London for a couple of days, and a couple of meetings. Christian Louboutin Main collection here I come.

Shop shop.

The Shoe Must Go On.

I am going to see Shoes – The Musical in London on Thursday (pause for reaction) because how could I not? When I heard there was a 2 hour long show entirely dedicated to shoes, I  turned into a complete travesty of myself and fell right into the trap. The whole thing feels quite corny, to tell you the truth. But I hope I’ll have a laugh, and enjoy the show. Me going to the theatre to see shoes is hilarious. I’ll let you know how it went. Haha.

Finkultur. Haha.

Rupert Sanderson at Bruton Place, and me at the Hempel Hotel in London.

Going straight from Taipei to London for the weekend turned out to be an ingenious idea. I made it to the first sales appointments for the fall collections, spent time with two of my best friends who live there, and managed to treat myself to a mini-vacation before heading back to Stockholm. I stayed at The Hempel in Paddington with the best garden, and wore their complementary shoes (slippers) as a treat for my tired feet. At the Christian Louboutin offices I met with Stefan who is Senior Account Executive, new to the Louboutin team, and Swedish, which was a wonderful way of jump starting the sales period for the fall/winter 2011 collections. I can’t take pictures at Louboutin, so I’ll show you a few snapshots from my Rupert Sanderson meeting instead. Andrew Stewart is Sales Director at Rupert Sanderson, and out of pure kindness agreed to meet us early on Saturday morning for a preview of the fall collections. We actually randomly ran into him at breakfast just a half hour before the meeting. Even London can feel like a small world sometimes.
